Question: A Dodge dealer I'm dealing with offers what they call "Preferred Pricing." Is there still room to negotiate, or is this really their best price?
Hello Tony
I am trying to negotiate a deal on a new truck with a Dodge
dealer in my area. Each time I go in, he makes it a point to mention
that they have "Preferred Pricing" and that they gave me the best possible price right from the start (their words).
Is there room to negotiate within these pricing schemes, or is this really the best price?
So far, each time I have tried to make a counter offer they have steered me to a less expensive vehicle.
By the way, love your site. It has been very helpful.

Answer:
Hi Roy,
Thanks Roy for the kind words about my website.
Roy, sometimes there is room to negotiate with these fixed
pricing schemes, but it depends on how low they set their
pricing.
I would suggest you price a similar truck at another Dodge
dealer and compare the prices. You might do better
elsewhere. If you do get a better price somewhere else go
back to the first Dodge dealer and ask them to beat the
lower price.
Often, when a car dealer realizes they are going to lose a deal to another dealer they will change their offer in order to get the sale. Don't ever underestimate the power of competition between car dealers.
If they still won't lower their price . . . Oh Well . . . their loss!
All my very best . . .
