Hi Lisa & Martin,
What a bunch of bungling fools these guys are! Wow! You need to immediately communicate with the General Manager or the owner.
Forget about these service department morons. Obviously this dealership is very poorly managed - at least in the back end.
Tell the GM or the owner the story and tell him or her that you demand that they put the car back in perfect condition. Make them
understand that if they do not that you will get the Hyundai factory people involved (there should be contact info in your owner's manual to contact a factory rep), that you will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, that you will file a complaint with your state's Attorney General's office and that you will get an attorney if necessary.
Also threaten to call a reporter at your local TV station. They love doing stories on this kind of thing. Ask the dealer if they
can afford all the negative publicity that could potentially come out of all this.
They have to understand that you will not put up with this incompetent crap. I mean . . . this is pathetic! They should be ashamed of themselves treating a new car customer this way.
If you don't get any satisfaction from the GM or the owner then follow through on all of the above. You may also want to suggest
that you be allowed to take the car to a "real" professional body shop and have the dealer foot the bill. There's no way you could possibly have any confidence in their ability to do the work properly.
If you raise a big enough of a stink with the right people I'm sure they will do what ever it takes to get you off their backs.
It's a shame it has to come to this, but this may be all they understand.
All my very best to you...
Tony Iorio
