Question: Folow-up to question asked at: "My new Honda Accord has a bad vibration at idle. Should I have it checked out in case it was wrecked prior to my buying it?"

November 26, 2005

Hi Tony

Thank you for you quick reply.

Yes, I've driven other new Honda Accords and they have no vibrations like my car and the original dealer had kept denying that there is anything wrong with my car until on my third visit when the manager suddenly asked one of the mechanic in the shop to sit in the car and to my surprise he admitted there is a vibration!

Until then all the other personnel denied there was any vibration when I could clearly feel it sitting on the passenger side. Since then the dealer told me and gave me a invoice showing they've replaced front and rear engine mounts, readjusted the valves, reprogrammed the ECU all recommended by Honda of America, but none of them have fixed the problem!

I really wonder if they've really done what they said they did because doesn't any of the work above require disconnecting the battery and if so none of my radio stations were reset?

By the way the vibration I'm describing is too much for me to handle so I always put the transmission in "neutral" when my car is at idle! And finally I'm thinking of seeking help from the lawyer after their third attempt at the repair to label my car as a "lemon."

Again THANK YOU for your honest help with my problem,

Yong

Answer:

Hi Yong,

If you keep after Honda instead of the car dealer they may offer to buy the car back to keep you happy. In fact tell them that is what you want. It's fairly common for manufacturers to do this and you may be able to get it done without fooling around with a lawyer. Just keep bugging them and tell them how dissatisfied you are. Good luck...

All my very best...

Tony Iorio
