Question: I Purchased a Car From a Buy Here-Pay Here Car Dealer, and They Have Not Produced a Title in 11 Months! What Can I Do?

I purchased a car from a Buy Here-Pay Here car dealer in my area of Georgia, and they have not produced a title in 11 months! I have not been able to register the vehicle in 11 months. I have been making payments right from the beginning. I finally told them to come pick up the car.

I want to know what can I do to get all the money that I have paid on the car since I bought it. They have been giving me the run around about the title of the car. I just want my money back. They know that they sold me a car without a title. I am very angry with them. How dare they call me and ask for payment when they sold me a car without a title.

Please help me, I am desperate to know so I can get my money back. Who do I call to sue them or what type of attorney should I seek?

Thank You,

Desperate in Georgia

Well, I'm not a lawyer, so I can't give you any legal advice, but here's what I'd do:

I'd tell the owner of the dealership to produce a title immediately or buy the car back, and if they don't produce it I'd tell them I will file complaints with the state's Attorney General's office and with the Better Business Bureau. I'd also tell them I will get a lawyer and take them to court if necessary.

If they don't comply then you should follow through on your threats right away. It's against the law for a licensed car dealer to sell a car without a title. This guy could lose his dealer's license, his business and end up in jail.

As far as finding an attorney you will have to talk to a few of them until you find one you like and can trust.

God Bless . . .
