One of My Web Site Visitors Shares A Few Car Purchase Stories!
Tony, I have to share a couple stories of recent car purchases.
When I first found your web site, I perused through all of it because it's so fascinating and illuminating. I was fairly disgusted with the whole car purchase experience because of the 4 hour game of back and forth and the pressure by sometimes completely incompetent salespeople.
To actually read about the way things truly work in that business was eye opening. I already was aware of some of the tactics and sales techniques being used on me, but I just didn't know how deep it went.
Well, on my first purchase after reading your web site, I just couldn't believe how everything about the deal was exactly as you said. It was comical. The salesman used them all, then the Sales Manager, then the Finance Manager. They were relentless.
I walked out as you suggest on your web site when the Finance Manager tried to change up the terms on me. I would have had a hard time walking before reading your web site, but after realizing that it's all a well choreographed game, it's easy to walk.
I've used your info on several of our own purchases, helped the mother-in-law on an Infiniti that she was just getting clobbered on. My own mother was looking a few years ago and I went with her and struck a great deal on a new Mazda Protégé. Sticker was almost 17k, got it for her for 12.3K out the door price.
I actually talked her into walking out while the salesman was writing the deal up. The Sales Manager actually chased us into the parking lot just as you said he would, and gave us the price we needed. Prior to that we had walked out on a young really aggressive kid on a Ford Focus.
I tell anyone who is looking to purchase a car to check out your web site because most people are clueless to the manipulation they are about to be subjected to. I know the car dealer is a business and needs to profit, but you wouldn't believe how many people I know that go in and take the first price thrown at them because they don't know what's going on or don't have the stomach to negotiate. Your web site always helps! Thanks again.
